I'm coming out (of retirement)! I want the world to know!

Hello to my three fans who ask I continue my blogging.
Your encouragement means so much.

As my way of reentering the blogosphere, I shall catch you up on my life.

Over the past five years...

  • I reached my third decade, and then added a year

    • I became a runner, ran a half marathon, and then became a walker again

  • I broke up with my boyfriend and then,  after some time, met a new one

    • I discovered there was an issue with my left eye, and unfortunately cannot quote my favorite kindergarten teacher, Arnold Schwarzenegger

    • I became a fraunt (friend-aunt) to this cute kid named Jack
    • I got a new job in a new school, and then got a new new job within that school teaching Special Education
    • I left my Upper West Side bubble and moved to Union Square

    • I got face-framing highlights thanks to a cousin's suggestion and an awesome Groupon

    • I traveled to Florida, Ireland, LA, Florida, and Ireland again...I'll be back (dammit, I really love Arnold Schwarzenegger)
    • I took a tap-dancing class with my girl Casey and learned dancing is tricky
    • I took a dip in the Atlantic Ocean on Super Bowl Sunday in February

I learned a lot over the last five years, and I'm looking forward to sharing the bests and worsts with you all (three) over the next five.

    'Til next time,
    xoxo

    happy december!

Growing up I remember hearing that Eskimos had over 100 different words for snow. I'm not sure who first told me this, but today I discovered it was a lie! A rumor or an exaggeration of sorts.

The hoax is anthropology's contribution to urban legends. It apparently started in 1911 when anthropologist Franz Boaz casually mentioned that the  Eskimos had four different words for snow. With each succeeding reference in textbooks and the popular press the number grew to sometimes as many as 400 words. In fact, "Contrary to popular belief, the Eskimos do not have more words for snow than do speakers of English," according to linguist Steven Pinker,"Counting generously, experts can come up with about a dozen."

Another bubble burst! Next they are going to be telling me Santa Claus isn't real!
Anyway, here is some snow -- in hopes of a snow day.
