it's about that time...

so my bedroom has basically gone the past eleven years or so without any real changes. and i have to say, it has been driving me nuts! i would post a picture if i wasn't so embarrassed of it, or if it wasn't so messy. anyway, here's some of the inspiration i've been getting for the much needed makeover.

as you can see, i'm leaning towards a neutral palate with a splash of something fun!

hopefully i get started on this project real soon.

Jinx, you owe me a coke.

my life feels sort of repetative lately. like i'm having one of those "groundhog day" type of lives. 

wake up - work - bed - wake up - work - bed - weekend - wake up - work - bed - and so on.  

i guess that's mostly my fault....but partly because of my environment. i feel very stuck.
im still in graduate school, and i cannot afford to move out just yet.
it isn't terrible here ... i guess i just need a change of pace.

i wouldn't mind waking up somewhere new...

what a night.

happy sunday!  i can't believe the weekend is over already. time sure does fly when you're having fun. friday night i went out for dinner and drinks with a friend. then we did a bit of bar hopping and a lot of laughing. the night ended around my kitchen table with a night cap, until my mom chased us all to bed (as usual). i always seem to be getting kicked out of the kitchen. saturday during the day i did a good deal of shopping with my friend meg.  i got some of the things below and then a lot more!

i also got a great dress to wear for new years eve! that is if i figure out some plans. so then on saturday night my friend hosted a "ladies night" at her place. it ended up only being a few of us, but it was just what i needed. we all made appetizers and had this nice drink she made - pear vodka and champagne.  i made avocado, tomato, fresh mozzarella, and basil drizzled with creamy balsamic. it was yummy!

 

all in all, a very fun weekend and only a three day work week coming up. hooray!

thumb prints are pretty cool. i remember making thumbprints into people when i was little.

 i loved it and if i am inspiring anyone to begin a new hobby, here is a great place to start.

see now, i was blessed with weird thumbs.

they have been the 'butt' of many jokes in my life (pun intended).

for example, they have been called "butt thumbs" by a few and "toe thumbs" by many.

 i always hated them, but learned to embrace them a bit as i got older.

 i appreciated my friends and family members who would always just say,

 "they aren't ugly, they give you character." ha! god love 'em. 

actually, i recently looked up my strange condition.

 i have what they call "clubbed thumbs."

but i found out i am not alone!

that's right ladies and gentleman, megan fox has them too!

so no worries, my chances of becoming a celebrity are not ruined yet.

Me, Myself & More About Me!

I am going to pretend people are interested in my life, almost like we are meeting at a cocktail party and these just may be some of the things you are inquiring about:

• Born and raised in New York, on an island that is said to be quite lengthy
• I am a Virgo, but I'm not sure what that means exactly in terms of effecting my personality.
• My parents had six children, and I was the second (reassuring I wasn't so terrible by having four more after me)
• People seem to think I have an obsession with cats, and I often receive many "cat" related gifts.  I, however, feel that it is not an obsession, but merely a lifestyle.
• I am an elementary school teacher. Yes, that's correct: I am shaping the future one child at a time. Beware!  But in all seriousness, kids are the funniest population of humans I have yet to encounter. 
• I enjoy bike riding very much, dancing whenever I get the urge and kickball
• Sadly, I haven't done much traveling yet in my life, but I sure hope to change that soon! Real soon!

See? it's merely a lifestyle...

Today is the first day of the rest of my blogging life...

Welcome! ¡Bienvenida! Benvenuto! Okay, so..no, I can not speak all of those languages, but I thought it might be nice to welcome potential readers from all over!  A friend of mine persuaded me to start my own blog, after finally becoming a part of the blogging world a few months back.  I must say, I find myself very inspired by the things one can come across while blogging.  I have a few hopes for this page and here they are:

• sharing art, music, recipes, movies and literature that please me! (and hopefully you)
• making people laugh at the funny stories that are my life (mostly revolving around my XL family)
• turning my cat (named cat) into an Internet sensation!
• venting about what grinds my gears (only when really necessary - i promise)
• and most of all -- finally becoming a successful "blogger"

As for now, I'm off to further my addiction of shopping

(and with the holidays coming up, I finally have an excuse!)
